Placing and changing your monthly order

Ordering happens once per month, any time while the school year is open and that month's ordering window is open.

Placing your order

  1. Click My Orders (in the Ordering menu).
  2. You'll see a calendar for the month. For each school day and each of your students, choose Full Meal, Milk Only, or None.
  3. Some days offer choices (for example, a side or entrée option) — pick one selection per group; prices are shown alongside.
  4. Your running total, wallet balance, and the Submit Order button stay pinned in a bar at the top of the page.
  5. Click Submit Order. The cost is deducted from your wallet, and you'll receive a confirmation email.

You only pay for the days you select — choosing None for a day costs nothing.

Quick Select

Full Meal every day and Milk Only every day fill in the whole month for one student in a single click. Days that offer choices are skipped by Full Meal every day — pick those individually. Milk Only every day does cover those days, and switching one to milk clears the choices you picked on it.

Once every day matches, the button stays highlighted. Click it again to clear those days back to None for that student — that clears every day of that kind, including any you set day by day. If some of them are days you've already ordered, you'll be asked to confirm first, and the refund is applied when you submit.

If your wallet is short

The bar at the top of the order page keeps up with your selections, so you find out before you press anything. As soon as your picks cost more than your wallet holds, it shows You need $X more with an Add funds link, and the button changes to Add $X and submit.

You can still press the button — nothing is hidden from you — but the order won't go through until the money is there.

If you have a card saved, pressing Submit shows a panel naming the exact amount and the card, for example Add $20.00 from your Visa ending 4242 and submit this order?. Nothing is charged until you press Confirm and submit; Top up another way takes you to the wallet instead. See Your lunch wallet for what happens if the card is declined.

Add funds takes you to your wallet with the amount already filled in (rounded up to the nearest dollar, or the $20 minimum if your shortfall is smaller than that). Pay, and you come straight back to your order with every selection still in place and a banner that says Wallet topped up. Your order is still not submitted. — because it isn't. Press Submit Order once and you're done.

A few things worth knowing:

  • Card payments are credited by our payment processor a moment after you return, so the page watches for the money and updates your balance on its own. If it hasn't arrived after twenty seconds you'll see Your balance is still updating — refresh, and it'll be there.
  • Bank transfers (ACH) are usually credited right away; the banner tells you the transfer is pending and you can submit as soon as your balance shows the credit.
  • If you change your mind at the payment page, Cancel brings you back to your order untouched, with Top-up cancelled. Your order is still not submitted.
  • If your wallet cap is lower than what you need, the wallet page fills in the most you can add and says so.

Your selections are never submitted for you. Only your own Submit Order — or the saved-card charge you confirm — places the order.

Your selections follow you

Picks are saved as you make them, on this device and on our servers, so you can start an order on a laptop and finish it on a phone. Whichever device you edited most recently wins, and the order page tells you when it picked up where you left off somewhere else.

Saved is not submitted. Until you press Submit, no meals are booked — your dashboard shows an Unfinished Order card and a dot in the Ordering menu until you do, and the evening before ordering closes you'll get one email saying your picks aren't submitted.

Students on free or reduced-price meals

If the school has placed one of your students on free or reduced-price meals, every day shows Free for that student and their meals add $0.00 to your total. You don't need a wallet balance to order for them, and nothing is deducted when you submit. Their card on your dashboard shows a "Free meals — no charge" badge. Contact the school office with any questions about eligibility.

Changing your order

You can change your order as many times as you like while the window is open. Open My Orders again, adjust your selections, and click Update Order (the button changes name once an order exists). You're only charged or refunded the difference: if the new total is higher, just the difference is deducted; if lower, the difference goes back into your wallet.

Once the window closes, orders are locked — see I missed the order window.
